Personal PicksFavorite Plant
This is not a fair question to ask the plant specialist! Bur Oak, Prairie Dropseed, any Amsonia…should I continue?
Outdoor Feature
I love my gas fire pit…with a glass of wine of course.
Favorite Place
The Superior Hiking Trail is my absolute favorite place to run. It’s rugged and beautiful and can challenge and reward you like no other run I’ve experienced. It is also the perfect place to witness the resilience of plants.

I manage the Field plant program, using my horticultural experience to develop our signature plant style. I shape the “Field Plant Palette” by working with our nursery partners to source plants reflective of our style and design philosophy. I oversee plant procurement for our installation projects, organize our annual KerPlantz plant sale, our direct-to-consumer plant program, and assist the design team with plant design. I have also helped develop our Field Maintenance Guide, a comprehensive aftercare resource provided to every installation client to guide them through managing their new landscape.
I joined the Field marketing team in 2022 and have helped shape and direct our brand’s message across our newsletter, website, social media, and print materials.
Background & JourneyI made my way into horticulture and landscaping as a career change after working in healthcare administration for several years. I valued my time in that industry, and everything shifted for me when my husband and I purchased our first home. As I began digging into my own yard and wandering the aisles at the neighborhood garden center, I found myself fascinated by plants. I wanted to learn more. It wasn’t long before I realized I could turn this newfound love into a career, leading me back to school to earn my Master’s in Horticulture.
While finishing my degree, I got my first job in the industry working on a crew for a garden maintenance company. It was a great opportunity to combine book learning with hands-on experience. I learned so much and was so tired at the end of every day, but it was that “good day’s work” tired. I was hooked. I joined the Field team not long after my mom spotted their ad in my neighborhood newspaper. She pointed at the ad, telling me, “You should work for them.” She couldn’t have been more right! I started as a crew lead in garden maintenance, working in the field for several years before moving into the role of plant specialist. I love being able to combine my academic background with our daily operations so that our signature Field plant style is reflected long after a project is installed.
I like to use blocks of plants throughout a design to tie the entire space together. This leaves pockets for contrasting foliage, shapes, and colors to create interest across a view. And there’s nothing more fun than tucking in a special little plant next to a cool boulder!
I love creating naturalistic meadow-style plantings. Knowing how plants work together gives you the freedom and confidence to know how the landscape will develop and change over time.
A Standout Moment
There have been many amazing projects across my time at Field. It’s hard to pick just one! When I think back, what is consistent across all those projects is the people I’ve worked with. I’m thankful every day to work alongside a caring, creative, and fun group of amazing individuals.
Outside of FieldI’m an avid runner and spend many hours each week on the trails around the Twin Cities. My running partners are forever subjected to “plant facts” on our runs. There’s no getting away from it…even during the winter. My husband and I are also scuba divers and try to get away for a couple of underwater trips each year. Most recently, we returned from an unforgettable week in the Galapagos, where we spent more time with hammerhead sharks than I ever thought imaginable!
