Imagine your 83rd birthday party. Who’s there? What do they say about you? With that question in mind Jason quit a corporate job in 2002 and went back to school to get his Master’s Degree in Horticulture and Design from the U of M. Shortly after he started Field Outdoor Spaces with business partner Shannon O’Halloran.

Jason’s two-cents: “The process of building a company is the most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life. I am so proud of our current 25 employees and of the over 100 team-members we’ve hired and worked side-by-side with. It brings me great satisfaction to drive down the streets everyday and take note of the hundreds of projects and wonderful clients we’ve worked with in the last 12 years. I am excited for the next 20 years as we continue to build and grow!”

In addition to his responsibilities as install foreman, Jason helps with many designs, plant selections and overall employee management. He is active in several community groups, including being the Co-Chair of the Main Street Alliance – MN. He was also one of the founders of the non-profit tree planting Autonomous Collective, a group of contractors and developers dedicated to re-establishing the tree canopy in the Twin Cities. At High Point Center for Print Making, Jason teaches fourth graders about garden design and ecology (picture to left!).

With his years of experience in the design of urban landscapes and running a small business, Jason does presentations each year such as “Small Yard Design”, “Community Perennial Planting”, “Outdoor Kitchens.” He especially enjoys talking about Field’s successes running Open Book Management, the Great Game of Business and “Inform and Empower” management.

You can always contact Jason at jason@fieldoutdoorspaces.com.
