Favorite Plant
My favorite plant is butterfly weed. I love the pop of orange and anything that attracts butterflies.

Outdoor Feature
My favorite outdoor feature is a winding brick path.

Favorite Place
My favorite Minnesota park is Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. It has awesome camping spots with views of Lake Superior.

My primary focus at Field is installation. Water flow, patio heights, steppers that fit the stride of both short and tall people: I love the problem-solving aspect of making our designs come to life.

img Background & Journey

I went to art school for sculpture and had a few odd jobs during college, working in home renovation. I joined Field because we’re basically building large, interactive sculptural installations! I have been able to apply my skills to the job and also learn skills that I can use in my personal artistic practice.

Design Philosophy

Clean lines, mass plantings, no paths that force awkward walking, and privacy.

My Approach

During our pre-project meeting, I will use spray paint to mark where the garden beds and/or patio will be installed. This is a great chance for the homeowner to see the design to scale, and the perfect time to decide if they want these elements smaller or larger. I’m happy to make these adjustments because it has to feel right for the family.

Expertise

I enjoy working with flagstone for patios and steppers. I also enjoy finding solutions for water flow issues, such as dry creek beds and rain gardens.

Memorable Projects

A Standout Moment

A memorable project for me was one that was a total transformation of a backyard.  We were tasked with regrading and creating new paths, garden beds, and lawn. My crew is very good at the demolition phase of any project, and when we can rip up an entire section of the yard, we are able to set the project up with the best grade heights for water flow, hardscape, and garden.

img Outside of Field

When I’m not working at Field, I spend time with my beloved dog, Agnes, and I work on my art.
