As Head of Production for Field, my role is very dynamic. I flex between design and estimating to keep new work in the pipeline while staying involved in the field to oversee installations. My primary responsibility during this time is leading the overall installation strategy to ensure that every project is delivered with high-quality craftsmanship and efficiency.
As the season shifts to winter, I turn my attention to our winter remodeling division, Uplift by Field. As Uplift Sales and Installation Director, I handle initial sales consultations, detailed design work, and project estimating.
Background & JourneyMy career path was far from linear, beginning with a brief stint in Mechanical Engineering. During an internship, I found myself tasked with modeling washers. I was so bored. As an impulsive 19-year-old, I knew I needed to find something more interesting and thought FLYING! That will be exciting! However, after three years of college, I realized that being a pilot was rooted in precise execution and left very little room for original thought or creative problem-solving. I realized that was exactly the balance of skills I was looking for, and it led me to pursue a degree in Environmental Design. Once I entered the industry, I fell in love with being outdoors and physically building concepts that had once been ideas on paper. That passion for transforming environments through hands-on creation hasn’t wavered since.
People often come to us with a dream of what they want their space to feel like. Our job is to guide that vision, defining a landscape that gives them both the aesthetic desire and practical utility they are looking for.
I love the challenge of landscapes with significant elevation changes. They offer unique opportunities to create intimate spaces nestled directly into slopes. Similarly, in our remodeling work, I love being able to add one or two extra details that really make the space fit with the client’s lifestyle and vision of the project.
A Standout Moment
We once installed a courtyard project for a co-worker’s parents that really challenged us to push our problem-solving skills. The backyard was so tucked away that regular access was impossible. We actually had to crane the bricks for the patio over the garage roof! The effort was well worth it, resulting in a cozy courtyard with a beautiful stone wall and water feature.
Outside of FieldOutside of work, I love spending time with my family in the great outdoors. The summer months are filled with hiking and vegetable gardening. In the winter, we embrace the cold and snow to traverse the trails on cross-country skis.
